“Through The Curtain”
As he sat in his cold dark room,
Scratching his ear as he thought,
He peers through the curtain, towards the moon,
Remembering a life he had sought.
.
He thinks of a time, and gets a grin,
Remembering his children as they played,
His wife,.. . as she kissed his chin,
Oh, those were such beautiful days.
.
Why has God forsaken me so?
He asked of himself, in knots.
All are gone, and I am old,
And death comes for me not?
.
Lingering, in his memories,
He looks towards a photograph,
Of an orchard full of apple trees,
A group of family as they laughed.
.
His dreams are of a happier time,
When the sun had shined on his face,
Of friends and family, and drinking wine,
And kids running all over the place.
.
Now he’s old, and all alone,
Everyone he loved has gone,
He waits for the day, he goes home,
To be again, with everyone.
.

Thank You MaryRose ♥,
I’m glad the emotions, his pain and loneliness, the emptiness,
the haunting, but warm, memories of his yesterdays, his missing and
longing to be with his loved ones once again, his sadness in it all came across.
Thank You for such a compliment.. . I’m Honored. 😉

A very poignant poem Bill.. My thoughts drift and yes as we get older the days space out as visits from your children get less, as their families take priority
You have a gifted Pen Bill, and a sensitive heart .. And I look forward to following your Window of Poetry….
I can not promise to catch every one, as at the last count I follow around 360 WP blogs.. 🙂 so have a mad catch up every so often.. People get used to me 🙂 dropping by in chunks LOL…
Many thanks for guiding me here…
We have two mutual friends Maryrose and Aqueleana 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend

Thank You Sue. ❤

P.S.
I have a little bit of the same problem, not sure how many I follow, but I know it’s a lot. Sometimes when I’m going through the feed I see one or two I haven’t seen in ages, it gets hard. Plus I work, so it takes away from staying on top of it. Most of my popping by people’s posts comes from likes and comments on my posts, that and spotting them around the web. I use the feed to spot those I haven’t seen in a while, and/or have slipped my mind,.. . and try to keep up on everybody.
I Try.. .☺
Later Sue.. .☺ ❤

I related to this. It’s beautifully written and “through the curtain” caught my attention. Yes, it is haunting to think each of us are headed down the same direction that some of our loved ones have already tread. It would be wonderful to see my Daddy and grandparents again. I wonder if the curtain can be passed through and we get a glimpse of them or we can be with them. No one ever came back to give the answer. This poem really made me think. Thanks.
